SEFTIOVET

Description

Seftiovet 5% is a long acting injection consisting of ceftiofur (as hydrochloride) 50mg/ml.

Ceftiofur is a semisynthetic, third generation, broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic, which is administered to cattle and swine for control of bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, with additional action against foot rot and acute metritis in cattle. It has a wide spectrum of activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It exerts its antibacterial action by inhibition of cell wall synthesis. Ceftiofur is mainly excreted in urine and faeces.

Indication

Cattle: For the treatment of bovine respiratory disease (BRD, shipping fever, pneumonia) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni. Seftiovet is also used for acute bovine interdigital necrobacillosis (foot rot, pododermatitis) associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus, as well as acute metritis (0 to 14 days post-partum) associated with bacteria.

Pigs: For the treatment and control of swine bacterial respiratory disease associated with Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Salmonella choleraesuis and Streptococcus suis.

Dosage

Pigs: 1ml / 16kg body weight / day intramuscularly for 3 days.

Cattle: Respiratory disease: 1ml / 50kg body weight / day subcutaneously for 3 to 5 days. Acute interdigital necrobacillosis: 1 ml / 50kg body weight / day subcutaneously for 3 days.
